Cost-Effective Brick Masonry:  Efficient Project Management (1 hr) - David Sovinski, International Masonry Institute

Making jobs go smoothly takes the involvement of all parties on the design and construction team.  David will talk about how designers can positively affect field operations.  He will also discuss the importance of pre-job conferences and how it helps the entire project get off on the right foot.

10:15AM - 11:15PM
Cost-Effective Brick Masonry:  Detailing to Save Money (1 hr) - Brian E. Trimble, P.E., LEED A.P., Brick Industry Association

The economic slump has forced a greater focus on the cost of construction.  Are the buildings you design as cost-effective as possible?  Are projects getting overly value-engineered?  Learn how to find cost savings with masonry.  Discover simple tricks to rein in costs, see what types of flashing details to use, and compare masonry to other wall systems.

11:15AM - 12:15PM
Hands-On Demonstration of Cost-Effective Techniques (1 hr) - Ed Bellucci, Kevin Hare, and Mitch Fost, International Masonry Institute

Get your hands dirty by applying what you just learned in the presentations to the field.  Lay up your cost-effective details and discover what mason contractors would recommend to architects to save money.  Find out why it makes sense to use larger brick sizes in a wall.  Please dress ready to work!
